Dr Feargal Twomey is a Consultant Physician in Palliative Medicine at Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and St Ann's Hospice. He consults privately at the Alexandra Hospital, Cheadle and The Christie Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Dr Twomey graduated from University College Cork Medical School in 1997. He commenced his medical training in the Republic of Ireland and undertook specialist training in palliative medicine in the Mersey Deanery.
Dr Twomey’s specialist interests are in pain & symptom control, palliative care in non-malignant disease, end of life care, undergraduate and postgraduate education, quality control and audit.
Dr Twomey is a member of The Association for Palliative Medicine of GB & Ireland, The European Association of Palliative Care, The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, The Royal College of Physicians London, Manchester Palliative Care Research Alliance, Northwest Palliative Care Physicians Group and The British Medical Association.
Dr Twomey has a particular interest in undergraduate and postgraduate education and frequently participates in educational activities across the region. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented research and audit work at local, regional, national and international scientific meetings. Dr Twomey is currently redeveloping the Specialist Palliative Care service at Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and contributing to the continued development of specialist service provision at St Ann’s Hospice.
